Questions people ask
How much does it cost?
The sender pays the traveller a carrying price. Suggested prices start at €10 for 1 kg and €25 for 3 kg; both sides can adjust within a fair range. Carrykin keeps 7.5% (minimum €1, maximum €7.50) from the traveller’s side. See the Pricing page for the full table.
Who handles the payment?
Payments are processed by Stripe, a licensed payment provider – Carrykin never sees card or bank details. While the pilot runs in test mode, every payment screen says “Test mode” and no card is charged.
When does the traveller get paid?
The payment is held after both sides agree. It is released only when the traveller enters the delivery code that the recipient receives from the sender. If the deal is cancelled before the handover, the held payment is refunded.
What can I send?
Personal items such as clothes, books, documents, gifts and factory-sealed packaged food. Not allowed: fresh food, dairy, meat, homemade food, medicines for someone else, cash, jewellery or packages the traveller cannot open and check.
What about customs?
Items must stay within the traveller’s personal duty-free allowance under the customs rules of the destination country. The traveller always sees the open package and can refuse anything. Senders declare the contents.
Why can’t we just exchange phone numbers?
Kin, our chat mediator, keeps the whole deal inside Carrykin: it plans the meeting, shares codes and blocks phone numbers or links. That way payment protection, ratings and our support still apply if something goes wrong.
How do you know people are real?
Travellers verify their ID and flight booking before a trip goes live; our team checks every document by hand. ID documents are stored encrypted and are never shown to other users.
What if something goes wrong?
Report it from the chat. Our team reviews every report, can pause payouts and, if needed, keeps the record for a police or court request. See the Terms for liability limits.
