What you can send with a traveller
Carrykin is for personal items only. The traveller sees every item before accepting, checks the open package at the handover, and may refuse anything.
Usually fine
- Clothes, shoes and festival wear
- Books, documents and photos
- Factory-sealed snacks, sweets, tea and coffee
- Cosmetics and toiletries in travel sizes
- Gifts, toys and small household items
- Utensils and kitchen items without blades
Not allowed
- Fresh food, dairy, meat and homemade food
- Fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and seeds
- Medicines for someone else, or without a prescription
- Cash, gold, jewellery and other valuables
- Sealed or wrapped packages the traveller cannot open and check
- Weapons, knives, aerosols, flammable items and loose lithium batteries
- Anything illegal in Germany, India or a transit country
Customs and airline rules
The traveller carries the items in their own luggage, so everything must fit the traveller’s personal duty-free allowance and the airline’s baggage rules. Senders declare the contents truthfully. When in doubt, check the current rules of the destination country’s customs authority and the airline before you send.
Fragile items can be marked “handle with care” in the request; the traveller may ask a little more for them.
